OPEN CALL

During the program, each participant is expected to develop an artistic proposal and body of work.

The program culminates in a group exhibition, where participants’ final projects will be presented to the public.

Selected artists will be provided with a dedicated workspace and financial support for the development of their practice. Each participant will receive €750 for materials during the program and a further €750 upon completion.

BAF will acquire selected works by each participant for inclusion in the Foundation’s permanent collection. The Foundation will also support the visibility of participants’ work through media coverage and its digital communication channels.

The development of each participant’s work will be documented and published in both printed and digital booklet formats. This material will remain in the BAF archive as documentation of the residency process and will be made available to researchers and other interested audiences.

A short curriculum vitae, including links to a personal website and/or Instagram account (if available).

Up to 10 works presented as images (300 dpi, maximum 2 MB per image). For video works, links may be provided.

Confirmation that the applicant is the creator of the submitted works and holds the corresponding intellectual property rights.

A text of up to 500 words presenting the applicant’s artistic practice, together with a statement of up to 300 words outlining their motivation for participating in the programme.

Applications will be assessed according to specific evaluation criteria. Applications that do not meet the stated requirements will not be considered.

The program is open to artists who hold a higher education degree or demonstrate an equivalent level of artistic practice. Applicants must be Cypriot citizens, residents of Cyprus, or members of the Cypriot diaspora, and must be at least 18 years of age.

The program welcomes projects that reflect contemporary artistic practices. Applications may include, but are not limited to, 2D and 3D works, sculpture, painting, photography, video, installation, performance, and other hybrid forms of artistic expression.

Applications must be submitted by 21 July 2026 at 23:59.

Following the submission deadline, an evaluation committee consisting of the programme mentors: Maria Loizidou, Maria Stathi, Elpida Frangeskidou, and Andreas Stylianou, will select up to four artists to participate in the two-and-a-half-month Residency: Studio Mentoring Program.

During the residency, participants will develop their projects with guidance from the mentors through both individual and group sessions. Each participant will take part in two one-to-one mentoring meetings and two group meetings involving all participants and mentors.

The program will also include an Open Studio presentation of works in progress, as well as workshops and talks that encourage exchange and dialogue among participants and with wider audiences.

The residency concludes with a group exhibition lasting two months, accompanied by a programme of parallel events.
